Wednesday of the Second Week of Advent

Strength for the Family

“The first step is to make sure that we’ve set appropriate limits for ourselves. If we’re racing out to get every new device, if we’re spending hours in front of the computer, if we don’t have our own inclinations in check, how can we possibly expect our children to do so? If we want our children to conquer something, we must first conquer it ourselves.” ~ Strengthening Your Family: A Catholic Approach to Holiness at Home, Chapter Six: Pushing the Limit

adventUse, especially over-use, of technology can interfere with our Advent preparations. It’s hard to make room in our hearts for the Christ Child when they’re crammed with images and impressions from a television, smart phone, or computer screen. When the media crowd in, there isn’t room for much else.
