One of the ideas we spoke about was erecting a May altar in our homes in order to give our Lady a special place and keep our minds and hearts focused on her. I mentioned that we have a May altar that really has an “altar” for a foundation. My husband, Mark, crafted the altar our of corrugated cardboard, pieced together and with a wooden base. It’s pretty schnazzie! Plus, it fits nicely into the corner of our dining room – conspicuous enough to keep her present to us, out of the way enough so that we don’t bump into it.
Of course, your May altar doesn’t have to be this elaborate; it can be something as simple as a corner of the kitchen counter or a space on the mantle. The important point is the offer Mary a special place in our homes and in our hearts during May.
