Blessed Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary!

With great joy the Church celebrates this feast day of our Blessed Mother, the day on which we commemorate her bodily resurrection and glorification of the Lord at the end of her life.

On November 1, 1950, Pope Pius XII announced the Apostolic Constitution, MUNIFICENTISSIMUS DEUS, defining the doctrine of the Assumption. Speaking to a jubilant crowd of more than 500,000 people packed into St. Peter’s Square, Pope Pius XII proclaimed, “Immaculate Mother of God, the ever-virgin Mary, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body (more…)
