Most people know that, on this day, we honor Mary for the grief she experienced during our Lord’s Passion and Crucifixion. But, not all of us know that this feast also honors her for the seven swords that pierced her Immaculate Heart, as Simeon prophesied at the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple.

Do we fully understand our discipleship in Christ?
If a stranger approached you, who would you say that Jesus is?
When we refer to Mary as “Star of the Sea,” we recall the fact that, like the stars in the sky, her task – in fact, her very nature – is to reflect the Light. The physical stars in the sky reflect the Sun’s light. Mary reflects the Light of her Son, Jesus Christ.
One of the things he said really struck a cord with me, as I and my husband belong to an ecclesial movement community. But, the Holy Father’s word reach further, beyond an orchestrated community and to each one of us, who all belong to the greater community of the Church.
