Marge Fenelon Advent

As of this writing, Advent is just 20 days away. That seems impossible, no? Alas, it’s true, Advent begins on November 30th this year. That means it’s time to prepare ourselves for this sacred season now so that it doesn’t pass us by.

Advent is a beautiful season of anticipation, a time when we prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ. While it’s easy to let Advent slip by without much thought, there’s so much richness to be found in intentionally preparing for this sacred time. Here are five ideas to prepare for a more fruitful Advent.

Receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation – Before Advent begins, consider going to Confession to seek forgiveness and spiritual renewal, preparing your heart for the coming of Christ.

Set a Daily Prayer Routine – Begin practicing daily prayer, such as the Rosary or the Liturgy of the Hours, to build a habit of spiritual reflection that can carry into Advent.

Read Scripture and Reflections – Start reading through Scripture passages related to Advent (e.g., Isaiah 7:10–14, Luke 1–2) or Catholic Advent reflections to deepen your understanding of the season.

Prepare Your Home for Worship – Clean and decorate your home with Advent symbols like a wreath, candles, or a manger scene to create a sacred space for prayer and reflection.

Commit to a Spiritual Discipline – Choose one spiritual practice (e.g., daily Mass, fasting, or journaling) to focus on during Advent and begin practicing it before the season starts.make this season one of deep spiritual growth and joy. May your Advent be filled with peace, hope, and the love of Christ.

As you prepare for the sacred season of Advent, remember that each small step you take now—whether through prayer, reflection, or acts of love—helps to open your heart more fully to the coming of Christ. Trust in God’s grace as you journey ahead, and may this Advent be a time of deep renewal, hope, and joy. You are not alone on this path; the Lord is with you every step of the way.
