On October 23, someone stole the bell from the grounds of St. Mary’s Cathedral in Oakland, California. This was no ordinary bell, it was a 100+ year old bell that weighed 2.7 tons! It took a crane to pull off the caper. Pretty slick, eh? The bell was recovered across the street from a junk yard on October 26; the witty wonders had rested it on some wooden beams and covered it with a tarp. How clever!
Thanks be to God the criminals were just a bunch of ding-a-lings, lest a valuable piece of history be lost to oblivion. I never stop marveling at the boldness of some folks!
