Strength for the Family
“The sacraments are part of the privilege of our royal heritage, and so we receive them as often as we can. Jesus stressed the importance of the sacraments when he said: “Abide in me and I in you. As a branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me” (Jn 15:4). ~Strengthening Your Family: A Catholic Approach to Holiness at Home, Chapter Sixteen: Blue Blood
Christmas is only a few days away, and it’s getting harder and harder to keep our spiritual schedules. With so much to accomplish by the 25th, it’s tempting to put our participation in the sacraments on hold until after the holidays. Yet, now is when we need the sacraments most in order to more fully, more humbly, more joyfully, prepare for the birth of the Savior.
Straws for the Crib
Attend daily Mass today, even if it means cancelling another item on your schedule. Receive Reconciliation, too, if possible. At the least, make an Act of Contrition and a Spiritual Communion and/or renew your Baptismal promises. Ask our Lord to help prepare your heart for his coming.
