Strength for the Family
“Learning about football is a lot like learning about our Catholic faith. If we don’t understand it, we’ll have very little interest in it.” ~Strengthening Your Family: A Catholic Approach to Holiness at Home, Chapter Twenty-Four: End Zone
It’s difficult to fully understand the mystery of the Incarnation; it’s beyond what our human minds can comprehend. Still, we try to understand it, to grapple with it, and to somehow make it our own. The words of the Angelus ring in our ears, “The Word was made Flesh; And dwelt among us.” Christ became man, in order to suffer with us, for us, because of us. We hear it again and again, perhaps so often that it begins to lose it’s impact.
Straws for the Crib
Likely, there won’t be many quiet moments in your schedule today. But, of all the days of Advent, this is the one that should be most quiet. Strive to keep your heart interiorly peaceful, reflecting on the Incarnation as you go about the finishing preparations for Christmas. Ask the Christ Child to give you the gift of profound faith, ardent love, and lasting hope.
