I thought you’d enjoy this article on Caravaggio’s “Calling of St. Matthew.” Those of you who home school might want to include this tidbit in your art appreciation classes, but even art enthusiasts who don’t educate their kids at home will find this interesting.

Apparently, we’ve been spotting the wrong individual as St. Matthew in the famous painting, at least according to the television channel of the Italian bishops, with agreement from Pope Benedict XVI. It seems that Matthew is the younger man – he almost looks like a boy to me – in the corner, not the older man in the center. See for yourself and let me know what you think…
