I copped this prayer from the website of the Oblates of St. Joseph. It’s written in first person from the perspective of the father of a family. But, don’t we all have someone for whom we’re responsible in some way? Aren’t we all worried about the fate of our economy, our country, our families? I would bet that every one of us knows at least one unemployed person right now.
Join me today in saying this prayer for ourselves and all of our loved ones, especially all the men in our lives who have lost their jobs, are worrying about the stability of their jobs, or struggling with the jobs they have because of moral or stress-related issues.
If you like, leave a comment with your specific intentions and we’ll include those in our prayers.
St. Joseph, Pray for Us!
Dear Saint Joseph, you were yourself once faced with the responsibility of providing the necessities of life for Jesus and Mary. Look down with fatherly compassion upon me in my anxiety over my present inability to support my family. Please help me to find gainful employment very soon, so that this heavy burden of concern will be lifted from my heart and that I am soon able to provide for those whom God has entrusted to my care. Help us to guard against bitterness and discouragement, so that we may emerge from this trial spiritually enriched and with even greater blessings from God. Amen.
