Yesterday, President Obama awarded the 2009 Medal of Freedom to seven individuals. The Medal of Freedom is our nation’s highest honor awarded to civilians. The seven award winners included individuals who have adamantly promoted pro-abortion and homosexual platforms.
And these are the people we’re supposed to hold up to our kids as heroes?
Recently I read the biography of St. Catherine of Sienna. In her letters, she reminisces about her childhood playtimes and the heroes they would immitate and emmulate. They were all saints. That’s right, they would “play saint”, acting out the words and adventures of genuine holy folk. Those were the heroes of St. Catherine’s day. Is it any wonder why the Middle Ages spawned so very many saints?
Who do our kids immitate and emmulate now?
