Nativity of St. John the Baptist: If you heard his call from the wilderness, would you listen?

We have the easy part, in many ways.

We know the Bible stories to be true, we know the back-story and John the Baptist’s call to conversion, and the end results of Christ’s Passion and Crucifixion. But, what if we didn’t? What if we lived during the time of John the Baptist? Would we have listened to his voice in the wilderness?
