Did you have a nice Christmas?
Seems that’s “the” question to ask at this time of year. Most of us can truthfully answer in the affirmative. Some of us, sadly, paint on a smile and give an insincerely positive answer, masking the pain and suffering that we actually experienced. Not everyone has a merry Christmas. Emotional or physical distance, military deployments, hardship, misunderstanding, illness, family strife, addiction, separation from the Church…all can cause our hearts to sorrow while the rest of the world rejoices. Those of us who have been blessed often forget there are those still awaiting the blessing.
If you’ve had a “nice” Christmas, stop a minute to pray for someone who didn’t. Then thank God for his love, goodness and mercy.
